Counseling Staff
- Team Leaders - Provides leadership to assigned counselors and campers. Previous experience as camp counselor required.
- Leadership Development Team Leader - Plans,
develops and coordinates Counselor In Training and Leadership Development
programs. Supervises assigned staff and campers. Previous experience as camp counselor required.
- Camp Counselor - Works
in partnership with another counselor to supervise a group of ten campers. Assists
in conducting program activities.
Program Staff
- POSITION FILLED Activities Director - Provides
overall leadership for all program activities and supervises program
staff. Schedules all program activities. Plans, organizes and leads
evening, mealtime and other special activities. Requires
previous camp experience.
- POSITION FILLED Arts & Crafts Director - Plans,
organizes and coordinates all arts and crafts activities. Supervises staff
while assigned to the program area. Previous
experience in arts and crafts preferred.
- Aquatics Director - Plans,
organizes and coordinates all aquatics programs including canoeing, kayaking
and swimming. Supervises lifeguards and other staff while assigned to the
program area. Maintains aquatics facilities and equipment. Previous
aquatics experience and current lifeguard, CPR and first aid certification
required.
- Lifeguards - Supervise
aquatic activities including swimming, canoeing and kayaking. Assist in
maintaining aquatic facilities and equipment. Current
lifeguard, CPR and first aid certification required.
- POSITION FILLED Worship Leader - Plans,
organizes, and leads all worship sessions.
Coordinates with the ministers-in-residence. Adapts worship choices to ages of campers. Singing
talent required. Guitar playing
suggested.
- Adventure Director - Plans,
organizes and supervises all adventure programming including ropes course,
climbing, caving and kayaking. Supervises staff while assigned to the program
area. Training,
experience and certification in adventure activities required. Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Adventure Staff - Lead adventure activities including ropes course, climbing, caving and kayaking. Training
and experience in adventure activities required.
Current CPR and First Aid certification required.
Support Staff
- POSITION FILLED Support Staff Team Leader - Trains, schedules and
supervises support staff. Previous support staff experience required.
- POSITIONS FILLED Support Staff - Support the camp’s operation by working in food service, maintenance and housekeeping. Assist with camp programming.
Other Positions
- Nurse - Provides routine and emergency
medical care to campers and staff. Manages
medications. Orients, trains and supervises volunteer nurses. Licensed as an RN in
Tennessee.
- Media Specialist/Office Assistant - Takes, organizes and
uploads photos to on-line gallery.
Writes, posts and monitors content of camp’s Facebook, Twitter and blog
accounts. Prepares, organizes and coordinates paperwork. Greets guests and
answers phones. Knowledge and
experience in photography and the use of social media.
- Volunteer Worship Leader for Camp in the Community - Each week, we take summer camp into the community, and we need worship leaders to serve with us. This is a volunteer position, and is not a full-summer commitment. We would love to have a variety of worship leaders serve with us for a week at a time. Guitar playing required. Summer Staff FAQs
When do I have to be there?
Most staff members will need to arrive on May 18th for the start of staff training.
When does camp finish?
The last day for most summer staff will be Saturday, July 27th.
Will I get time off?
Most staff members are off work from late Friday afternoon after the camp session ends until we get back together for the next session on Sunday afternoon. Time off during the week is limited and varies by the type of job you have at camp.
Can I be gone during the summer?
While we understand staff members might occasionally need to be gone for short periods of time (doctor’s appointment, etc.), longer absences need to be approved prior to summer & are discouraged.
Where will I live?
Counselors will live in cabins with campers. Staff members who are not counselors will be assigned housing in other camp facilities.
What about meals?
Our kitchen offers a variety of nutritious meals & can accommodate those with special dietary needs. Staff members receive meals at no cost during camp sessions.
Will I get training?
Prior to campers arriving, staff members take part in two weeks of intensive training. The training includes a wide range of topics including outdoor skills, child development & leadership. In addition, staff members will attend weekly training throughout the summer.
What do you expect at a Christian Camp?
We ask that you be a person of Christian faith who is willing to share that faith with the campers. We also expect that you live a Christian lifestyle and serve as a role model while you work at camp.
What if I’m not from the United Methodist Church?
While we are a ministry of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church, we welcome staff members from a variety of faith backgrounds. We value diversity in beliefs and the sharing and exploration of faith issues that diversity brings.
Who will I work with?
Our summer camp is a team effort between our year-round staff, our summer staff & volunteers. Our summer staff are primarily college students from around the country. We also have several international members on our staff.
